Connecting Amps

I got a question to ask all the professionals out there. When connecting the power and ground to the amps, do you really need to use a spade terminal. Or can you just connect the wire and tape it up with electrical tape. To prevent anything from being loose. When i redo my amps, i am not sure what to use. What will give me maximum security, and if i need spade terminals, which ones are good.

If you can use spade use them....Nothing says you will have problems if you do or dont. make sure no wires touch, even one little strand!

yeah, i figured that much. thats what after i screw it down, i will use electrical tape to secure everything. i just feel the amp will get a better connection without the spade.

I form a Y on the ends of hte power wire and push it together on the screw. Ive never had it fall out.

You will get a more secure connection with a properly crimped spade terminal than you will with bare wire.

Well 1 amp is a Elemental Designs Nine.2x, but when i try to put a 4 gauge spade terminal, its a ***** to get in. And which spade terminals are good, that provide a clean crimp?

None of the eD amps use spade terminal connections. They are all bare wire connections. Undo the set-screw. Strip about a 1/2" of insulation off the end of the wire. Slide the wire into the terminal as far as it will go and tighten the set screw. Make sure that you don't have any stray strands of wire sticking out.
