Cone out or in? Kicker Solo B question.

Just out of interest, can I keep the 2 10"s and the 15" in their sealed enclosures (Cones out), but have them facing the same way?

Like this :-

/>

/>/>

/=cone >=chassis

Surely this would not be affected by cancelations from the subs, especially in the sealed enclosures?

Thanks,

Sonix.

Now you are gonna take the sealed box for your 15 and convert it to ported? This thread just keeps getting better and better.

Seriously, like has been said, its -possible- to run multiple sized subs. But 1) its sort of pointless and a waste of money, and 2) its a project Im quickly suspecting is over your head (no offense). You already wasted enough time and money purchasing two seperate subwoofer systems, cut your losses... sell one system or the other and put that money towards something your system actually needed.

Sound advice, thankyou and you're quite correct, it would probably be over my head, despite my career as a sound engineer. It's my understanding of ICE that's lacking not studio audio. It's a shame though as I'd really like to make this work. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Oh well, I think I'll let the 15" collect dust till my brother has another car. I better scrap my plans for the 18" SoloX I wanted as well then. My dreams of a huge Kicker system are gone.

Thanks for the info and the help, I appreciate it.

If you want a huge system, you could always build dual purpose setups. What I mean is, you mentioned a soloX, alot of people build a simple SPL setup (ie: single soloX) and have a SQ sub setup in addition... a pair of smaller more realistic subs that 'fit' your front stage better, and that are setup for SQ not SPL burps. Run the SPL setup at the comps (and to impress your friends), run the smaller setup for daily listening. I may end up doing this too as I suspect my xxx15's in a wall will be rather overpowering, I may add a smaller SQ sub. I have a few other ideas to try first though.

I run the 2 10"s as my daily system. I bought a sealed enclosure rather than a ported, so I could have a complete range for all music instead of just burps for spl.

Saying that my initial intention was to go for spl, but without ending up with a system that sounds loud at a certain freq. As is, the 10"s hit hardest at 40hz, but perform through the whole range.

Yes I'd been thinking of isolating the 15" for daily and as you say, turn it on for comps and impressing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif Besides, having a trunk full of solo b's is my kind of heavy heaven.

Well I'm going to install this weekend and see what the results will be like after sorting freqs for the subs from the crossover, as has been kindly suggested. It may all go tits up, as I have been warned, but then again........

Thanks,

Sonix.
