Dilemma between JL 10 w6v2 w7

Hi guys, Im new here but this is driving me insane. I bought 2 12" w6v2's 1 at the store and 1 on ebay. I got impatient to wait for the one on ebay so thats why i bought 1 at the store. anyways..

I found the single 12 in a sealed box is too much bass for me and thats why i ordered a 10" w6v2 in a ProWedge enclosure, I like deep tighter bass compared to boomy bass. But will a 10" w7 in a prowedge enclosure sound similar to the 12" w6v2? if so that would not be good.

Any major diffrences with the 10w6v2 and 10w7 both in ProWedge boxes?

Ultimately im thinking of adding in another 10w6v2 with another 500/1 w/ a total of 2 10's w/ 1000 watts. but that will just cost me more money that i don't want to spend so will a 10w7 on the 500/1 will be a better route?

On a side note i mostly listen to electronica and hip hop

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you need an eq or eq adjustment, gain adjustments, x-over adjustment and possibly box adjustments. Too much bass is an easy fix and the subs you have shouldn't be boomy at all. What freq is your sub amp crossed over at and whats the cu ft of the box?

w7 will get louder than your w6v2. And your problem can simply be fixed by turing your amp down. Thats the beauty of too loud, it can always be turned down. It becomes a problem when its not loud enough and theres not more clean gain left //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Great subs boxes and amps. Too much bass out of a SQ woofer in a sealed box is very easy to control. I believe that you are using a 500/1 ?? If so those amps have several different controls to customize your sound and you should really read up on the manual and then play with the settings. But the obvious fix would be to adjust your gain down a few ticks and that should take care of the too much bass issue. The 12 inch W6v2 is not a boomy sub and definately not in a sealed box. Try moving the box around in your car to see which fits your taste best. If anything the w7 would be boomier and more bass.

I'd keep your current setup and just turn the gain down on the amp some.

Thanks for the help guys. The sub was installed in a 1.25 cubic ft Q-logic box, unfortunately the way the box was made caused some air leak around the subs diameter because of a plastic ring that had to be drilled in with the sub from behind. reason the ring is there is to act as a spacer since there are 2 screws drilled on the face of the hole to mount the Q around the circle. I bet if i take that out then there will be no air leaks.

As for the amp i dont know what its set to since the amp is under my passenger seat and i have no idea how to properaly tune it, however im certain the crossover needs to be adjusted. I know the installer did lower the gains.

Its all hooked up on my oem head unit, i have a bass, treble and subwoofer control. When i had the original 12" JL w6 bass (mid range) was set at -3 and subwoofer +1-2 With the w6v2 bass at -5" - -3" subwoofer -5" - -4" all with a range of (-6 - +6) So i have to keep the subwoofer lvl low and when its low it's now hitting the optimum lvl. I believe this subwoofer is better suited w/ an after market deck.

I returned the sub earlier today since i need some cash but i will have the 10" w6v2 next week and i'll tune it around the way JL says for the 500/1 on the 10" w7 and see how that sounds
