Comps dont work... wiring?

i installed my compents today and it seems as though i may have it hooked up wrong could it be my grounding or wiring....they play very low when i turn the head unti all the way up but you can barely here it...could this be a grounding issue?

i turned it up that cant be it...im assuming and hoping its because im not using the correct wire and grounding it right...im using like 14 or 16 ga twisted speaker wire for my power and ground...i know thats dumb but i was hoping i could hear them tonight and not have to wait to get wiring kit

yes that is correct...and more than likely that is my problem right? i hope so

That's your problem then. The wire is not big enought to deliver the current for the amp to put out power. Disconnect the amp and stuff before you cause a fire.

well i upgraded to 8ga wire...and still the same as it was...if you turn the level knob up to high it will go into protect it and i still have to max the head unit to even get a little sound out of it

What type of specs does your amp have, if the ground was an issue it would cut off at higher levels but maybe your amp ain't strong enough

nah its 125rms at 4 ohm it was strong enough but now it has like a echo in the music like the person is singing under water...i need to do tuning but i got to find another tweeter now...i think it may be to much for the tweeter or i had it crossed wrong or something i know the thing straight melted

RMS Power @ 2 Ohm: 250W x 2

RMS Power @ 4 Ohm: 125W x 2

and i have it bridged right now so that may be the problem

something is deff not right...the amp as started to smell and is starting to smoke a little bit i have cut it off untill i fig out wtf is wrong
