Component Speaker Question

Hey guys! Just joined the forum today! Looks like a great place with tons of good info!

Alright, first off I'll tell you what I've currently got in my truck. It's '98 Silverado extended cab.

Front speakers- 6.5" Interfire co-ax speakers rated at 100 watts RMS

Rear Speakers - 4x6 Alpine type S speakers rated at 35 watts RMS

Headunit - Kenwood MP342U, but soon to be a Kenwood Excelon X794

4 channel amp for speakers - JL Audio J2 amp, pushing around 60 watts RMS to each speaker

Sub- Fusion 12" with an Interfire amp, pushing 300 watts RMS to the sub

I have dynomat in the front doors.

Ok, my question is, how much of a difference will component speakers make over the coaxials I have in the front speakers? I know with the new headunit I'm getting it's got a 5 band EQ, 4 volt pre-outs, and the time alignment thing, but I'm wondering if getting the component speakers will make my sound even better. If I got the components, where would a good place to mount the tweeter be? I was thinking either in the A or B pillars. Or would the stock tweeter location be better?

I'm looking to spend around $200 for the speakers, no more than $250 preferably.

What are some good component speakers that you would recommend? The audio shop here in town loves Interfire and JL Audio. Would you go with those, or another brand? Also, would I need to buy a different 4 channel amp? Or would the one I have be fine? Thanks for the help!

Massive Audio CK 6III,CTX65CS - Image Dynamics ,SPX-17REF - Alpine ,Tempo 6X- Morel ,CSX 265 - Rainbow Dream ,SLX 265 Deluxe - Rainbow ,165A1 - Focal Access ,ESK 165 - Hertz , All of these are in your price range and would s**t all over the jl audio speakers.

Out of those, which one would be the best...i.e better sound quality, loudness? Also, I looked at the Hertz and noticed they take 100 watts RMS, and the other speakers probably do as well. My 4 channel only puts out about 65 watts RMS. Would that be enough power for those speakers? I just don't wanna spend the money on nice components like that if I'm not gonna be able to power them properly.

Just in general components sound better than coaxials. It presents a larger soundstage, you can place each component where they sound best, and the crossovers keep your woofer/tweeter getting the proper frequencies so you can crank them up with lower distortion.

Ok sweet! Where would the best spot be to mount the tweeters? I was thinking

Maybe in the A pillars right in front of me..but what about the

B pillars right behind the driver/passenger's head? I do have the

Rear speakers for rear fill. And would you say the Hertz

Speakers are the best from that group?

You want the tweets no further than 6 inches from the mids for best imaging if that helps you decide where to put them. As far as wich speaker to buy i can't decide for u and honesly i would have a hard time deciding from that list, but i would be deciding from the image dynamics or the hertz. IA is out of buisness now , but you get a warranty on these if bought through like woofersect

I have 45 watts going to my ESKs and they sound great. You will notice with any nice comp set, they are going to sound flat and muddy for the first few hours of play. Then one day you will turn up that one song and you will think somebody jacked your stuff and put something that you cant afford in its spot
