Hey guys! Just joined the forum today! Looks like a great place with tons of good info! Alright, first off I'll tell you what I've currently got in my truck. It's '98 Silverado extended cab. Front speakers- 6.5" Interfire co-ax speakers rated at 100 watts RMS Rear Speakers - 4x6 Alpine type S speakers rated at 35 watts RMS Headunit - Kenwood MP342U, but soon to be a Kenwood Excelon X794 4 channel amp for speakers - JL Audio J2 amp, pushing around 60 watts RMS to each speaker Sub- Fusion 12" with an Interfire amp, pushing 300 watts RMS to the sub I have dynomat in the front doors. Ok, my question is, how much of a difference will component speakers make over the coaxials I have in the front speakers? I know with the new headunit I'm getting it's got a 5 band EQ, 4 volt pre-outs, and the time alignment thing, but I'm wondering if getting the component speakers will make my sound even better. If I got the components, where would a good place to mount the tweeter be? I was thinking either in the A or B pillars. Or would the stock tweeter location be better? I'm looking to spend around $200 for the speakers, no more than $250 preferably. What are some good component speakers that you would recommend? The audio shop here in town loves Interfire and JL Audio. Would you go with those, or another brand? Also, would I need to buy a different 4 channel amp? Or would the one I have be fine? Thanks for the help!
