Need help narrowing down what door speakers I want.

I just sold off my sub for some decent money, and I figured I should start from scratch, and try to improve my system from the bottom up.

I currently have these door speakers, I plan to put an amp to them soon.

Amazon.com: Pioneer TS-G1643R 6.5-Inch 2-Way Speakers (Pair): Electronics

Would it be worth upgrading to these?

Buy.com - Pioneer D Series TS-D1720C Component Speaker

Or is there another brand that may be better for the price? These are the only door speakers that have stuck out to me, I'm pretty much clueless otherwise.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate the help I usually receive from this website.

depends on what kind of sound u like, im not a fan of pioneer. There are plenty of better componets for the $150 range. The hertz are nice ,but "entry level " is like $250. Not a very enrty level price. Type-r , cadence or boston acoustic can be had for around that price and in my opinion are better than pioneer

Thanks for your input, what kind of sound do you look for? I just mainly want a tweeters that aren't too high, & my mid bass to be loud enough to feel a little bit. I'm also looking for good sound quality in these speakers, since i'm going to have mainly SPL subs. If that makes sense? hah.

I would get Soundstream pro audios. or the Soundstream RF60-c comp set. The pro audio has drivers with a high power capacity. and tweets. alll you have to do is run them active on a nice four channel amp. Some of the 6inch drivers can handle more than 200 watts rms. Those are next on my list...

The TS-D1720Cs are great components. I'll vouch for them and many others on here will, too. I'd pick up another set of those for another vehicle in a heartbeat. They're worth every penny. Midbass is incredible and the tweeters are nice and smooth. The tweeters are highpassed at 2.5 kHz and the mids play EVERYTHING lower than that. I recently switched mine to full range (no highpass for the mids) and they play everything perfectly.

everyone has different opinions on what they like, if u can go demo some at a shop somewhere. Most "real" shops have several componets that are even amplified to try out. If you want smooth tweets look for ones that are silk, and the mids range from differnt manufactures. I personally have never heard anything from pioneer that i like at all. I have heard those ts-d1720cs and i didn't like them. The midbass is there , but vocals and acoustic stuff are muddy sounding, the tweeters are mellow and not very detailed. Boston acoustic are much cleaner sounding and the clarity and detail has much more depth.

Even though you're right about the quality of the install, a good install with good equipment is better than a good install with shitty equipment. The OP wants some opinions on some component sets, not install tips. Lets steer him in the right direction. I still vote for the Pioneers he referenced. They're unbeatable speakers for the money.
