Component rear fill

I'm fully happy with my fronts, speakers are in stock locations but I'd like to keep it that way, everything looks stock if you look inside my car. My front doors are double layer deadened with Dynamat Xtremed, it is like a concert in there. but, i just want that extra UUMMMMPPHH by throwin something in the rear doors as well, if ya know what i mean.
i thoguht subs gave uummmmpphh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

ok. speed travels 343 m/s ideally. most situations, its less, some more. lets keep it constant.

(343m/s x 40 inches) / 12 inches/ft = ~1143 ft/sec

now. take the length of your ear to the speaker you want to find out whether its directional or not. back dash of a sedan, say.. 3.5 feet

(1143 ft/sec) / 3.5 feet = 326.57/sec and we all know a number/time is frequency. your back dash becomes directional (if its 3.5 feet away from your ear) at 326.5 hz, because at 326.5 hz, the wavelength is 3.5 feet

anything over that starts to ruin your front soundstage image. now, this is considered upper midbass to most people. unless you are trying to let people in your backseat hear the fullrange sound, anything over that draws back your soundstage.

that range from say 80-320 hz will give you 2 full octaves of rearfill that most likely will give you more uummmmpphh in your front soundstage.

this is not perfect by any means, nor near perfect, but will sound much better than full range coax's in the back (up front anyways)

nice little explanation there :O

also lookin at these Kicker SSMB6 midbass 6.5's, seem to be pretty good from the reviews.

would i High pass or full range midbass drivers?

Wong, buy my pair of Morel Ovation 4" coaxes from me $150. for the fill. they take at least 80rms, not that you need that anyway, but they are warm and clean sound. they also have an external x-over built in. Thanks, kind of looking into some type of Midbass drivers for the rear doors, any recommendations on those?

1. Trying to find some used 6.5" revs.

2. What'ya think of those SPX-177A mids thats for sale in the classifieds? 50$, not bad of a deal imo, havn't heard them though

edit: also, i can't run off Hu power, im running a custom made factory amp bypass harness (have navi, would like to keep all the sounds etc), so i've only got rca's to play with. Got a sundown sax 100.2 for the rears, just need to decide what mids to get
1. Good choice.

2. If you're looking for some oomph, I would not recommend the SPX mids, as they are more geared for SQ and sound very natural without being very aggressive. I have a set of the SPX-177R's, the successors to the 177A's (practically the same midbass, just a different cone color).

If you have the cash, you might want to consider the CDT M6 or M6+ mids. They supposedly get very very low (around the 20-25Hz range). Contact Don on AIM: djdilliodon to see what his pricing is and if he can shoot you some advice/recommendations.

Rear fill is fine, but wasting amp power on it is not. You should only power them minimally with either a HU, or something else, but not 100rms per side to rear fill.

Just my .02.

I would agree, but the OP has no other choice in this case.
