Hi all,
Have an issue and want to see what you guys think. I have a set of components in the front of my pt cruiser. not stock but aftermarket Infinity reference 6030cs. They have been working well for about 5 years and noticed that one of the woofers is toast. if I play a test tone through it, it is popping an crackling. The tweeter is fine, nice and clear when sending a higher freq. test tone. Anyways, I am not an audiophile and just want the system to sound decent again. I have a a brand new pair of kenwood 6-1/2" 3 way coaxials I had in the front doors for about a month before buying the component set. so my question is, which would sound better or if the latter would work. I can reinstall the kenwoods or can I remove the 6-1/2" speaker from the component set and then install the Kenwoods and keep them hooked up to the crossovers that came with the infinitys. MY guess is mixing and matching the components probably will not work as the 3 way probably has a crossover built in already for the speaker. Thought i would ask though to see if anyone has done this successfully. Thx
