Comparing one 15" type-r to two.....

dual 4 ohm. each sub would have its own ported enclosure (im havin a helluva time trying to get that to work lol). i was planning on the MRP-f450, and i was gonna hit up some car audio stores tomorrow before i buy my shtuff. there, i think i got it all hehe

Dual 4ohms require a single amp at 2ohms. Its one reason you can't hook Two 4ohms on One amp unless you got a 1ohm stable amp.

"And never use just one Voice Coil are its toast."

If you go ported the be sure you understand that the box has to be built perfect or distortion will kill it. They do give you more bass with less power, But below freq will cause loss of control of the cone.

bwahhh totally against what i was told like two weeks ago hehe. okay let me take this in. I understand that two wire two 4 ohm subs to one amp requires a 1 ohm stable amp, which would be the hifonics xx-herc (2000 a 1 ohm).

My box plans are two ported enclosures, 3.5cu ft each at 32hz, dimensions being about 19.75x18x32.

Does this sound acceptable or do i need some changes?

sub manual says "optimum vented box" is up to 3 cu ft. at around 30hz. should i follow alpines specs rather than my own?

Yes I would stick too alpines specs. You got a sheet in the box that shows all the hook-up configurations .

Two single boxs is the way to go it porting. You can use Fiber fill which helps alot. Just be sure to glue it down so it won't blow out the port.

making the box smaller to alpines specs would be handy on my part. can anyone second this (not saying i dont believe you hammer, you seem to know your stuff) And should i tune to 30hz as well or can i stick with 32hz?

1 15 is all you need for daily driving. but off that herc @ 0.5 ohms with 2 subs would be sick. i am actually planning on buying a 2000 explorer and i am making a 6 cube net box for 2 type R's 15''. i was going to tune low as possible, making it more a sql system. and tuning lower means more flex

It says 29hz when built to spec. 2.4db 30hz

If its smaller the port will need to be adjusted to keep things right.

You can make it smaller, But not enough to save space. Thats way ported boxs have to be match with speaker size and truck space.
