MTX Subwoofers Question...

OK, so I have an MTX 5500 12" SledgeHammer setup. I damaged the sub on accident, and instead of replacing it with another 5500 I was thinking of dropping in a 7500 series. I've spoken with MTX and they said the 7500 will drop right into the enclosure and sound great. Pretty much the exact same box, the only difference is the the woofers themselves.

My question is this, will it really make that much of a difference in sound with the 7500 vs the 5500? Or should I just get another 5500 and call it good?

Anyone that can help...

Thanks!

I really like the sound of the 7500 compared to the 5500 or 4500. It will be louder but i think it sounds much better than the lower end mtx subs.

you might want to call mtx. i had a 7500 and put a drill through the cone of it and they said that if i were to send my broken sub into them, i would get a discount on a new 7500 or a 8500. so you might be able to get a discount if you want to trade that sub in.

dflw 99- I have plenty of power to run the 7500 sub.

ajspellm- I will have to do that. I have 2 damaged 5500 12's (one from a buddy) that has a bad voice coil. I will contact MTX and see what it would take to either fix or upgrade...
