Comparing/Choosing between Nakamichi CD700 and Pioneer DEX 99RS

I currently am using Nakamichi CD400 and CD500 head units in my M3, ZR1, and Rx7 and have really enjoyed them over all the other head units I have had over the years, which were either high end Alpine or Pioneer Premier series. I've read review of the new(er) Pioneer DEX 99 and it is obviously one of the top few head units along with the Sony RSX GS9. I have a line on a new in box CD700 and am close to pulling the trigger, but would like some opinions on it versus the newer Pioneer. Or, if anyone can suggest another great SQ head as an alternative, I am all ears, appropriately...

If it matters, I will be using a Butler Tuber Driver Blue 2150 amp and a pair of old School MB Quart QS216's. Nothing else, as this is going in a Ferrari Testarossa and there's really no room.

The pioneer is a much more advanced setup type of head unit where you have multiple channels ran just for the front in an active setup where you crossover, time align and EQ each driver independently. It requires a lot of work and tuning along with a proper setup just to take advantage of the head unit. However what you are planning requires a much more simpler setup so i'd say the sony would be a much better choice for you. In fact the pioneer's potential will be utterly wasted in your setup. Meanwhile the sony focuses on good sound without much tweaking, very plug and play with minor easy sound adjustments and is not active capable basically made for what you plan on doing with your build.

I hear you and between the two I really liked the Sony's simplicity and SQ. However, I don't believe it has a built in CD player and I really don;t want to or have room really to add one? Do you have any thoughts on the Nakamichi CD700 versus the Sony? I generally love the old school Nakamichi head units.

Thanks,

Gordon

Just rip all your CD files into flac and go bluetooth. The sony bluetooth is every bit good as CD due to the advancement in technology in digital file transmission. CD is a dying breed with the quality you can get with other sources nowadays.

Thanks. I got you. I am really old and am not up on "ripping files" but suppose I can learn. Pretty **** embarrassing. I focused on work for some years and when I came up for air, I found I had gotten old. ****. I'll ask my daughter.
