I completely beg to differ. The amp with more clean undistorted power will always win. The lower quality amp will sound like @ss past .01 THD, even though it claims more power, its not gonna be squeeky clean power hence the percieved sound quality difference everyone claims they hear from swapping amps. Higher quality amps sound better because they make actual clean power which just means they make music sound as it should, not coloured by distortionIf both amps are not clipped you will never here the difference. Now if build quality, looks, brand and what ppl around you thinks counts??Yocom
Clean power, better results. Pdx f6 is supposed to be only 5 watts more than my ppi amp which has been amp dyno'd to do rated but the drop in test result difference is absolutely devasting for the ppi. Regulated power supplies make a huge difference. You can hate on expensive mainstream sh*t all you want, but they are clearly superior in both build quality, technology and performance which makes them unaffordable to guys like us who mainly seek out the best deals and get mislead by others saying that a cheap manufacturered amp with a recycled generic design made in china is somehow as good as a the other company's flagship amp line that has years of R and D and patents on their technology. Here's the real question: What can the 450 dollar amp do that the 150 dollar amp cannot do?
Neither I got the amp you really need. BN Alphard 200.4 an priced rd $300. Make both these amps its bitc.I've always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I know Alpine and I know they have great amps (or, at least, they used to). I've had Alpine amps in the past and they have performed flawlessly for years. I've never own a Massive Audio amp, but there is a huge price difference...too much for me. It's almost like the price of a Boss Audio or Planet Audio, or something similar that I would not touch. I would look at it this way: If you buy the cheaper product, you will enjoy the cost savings for a week or two. After that, you will forget about your savings. If you buy the better, more expensive product, you will enjoy it's benefits for years to come, long after you've recovered from paying the extra dollars. For me, I'd get the Alpine.
