Comparing 6.5" Mid Ranges

This is why i like seeing a drivers frequency plot. Some drivers that claim whatever db rating will actually be the drivers peak frequency. Others are rated at an average. The problem is they will use a frequency range to give them a higher average. Your driver has very poor low end but a huge spike from 4-5k lets average from 250hz to 5.5k even though you give a frequency response of 80-6.5k. The best part is when you have to cross at 3k due to breakup above that and lose all of the speakers so called efficiency. For $45 a driver the faitals a great. The Crescendo uns are a bit more but have a huge efficency bump in the upper midrange at a loss to midbass but are crossable much higher than the faitals so it is usable output prv also makes a neo very similar. The un being able to cross no problem at 5k opens up more tweeter possibilities.
they were both crossed at 3k at -12db in the guy's setup. Only thing he did was a direct drop.

One of the reasons I posted this thread is due to the frequency graphs of the Hertz vs the Faital. The Faitals seem more linear, have less breakup past 3k and have a lower fs. At a $147 bucks cheaper a set it seems like a no brainer, but why? I'm still learning so I figured id ask and see if I'm missing something. Now I'm starting to see opinionated replies across different threads of who ***** and why. Some point to a certain brand as the go to, then others state there ratings are blown up and over priced. I have yet to even ask about the tweets and learn how to choose those to complement said drivers. Hell ive never ran a system active before so this is one big adventure!
specs dont always say everything. The faitals were a total letdown unless you boosted the crap out of the EQ

That doesn't make sense. Then what does one judge what to buy other than coming on these forums and asking? It's impossible to demo even a fraction of all the drivers people have recommended!

I took a shot in the dark and got the best thing I could get. Luckily I hit the nail on the head and been happy for 5 years now.

go to car audio shows and SPL and SQ comps.
I don't know of any round here as I barely know the area. I've only lived in this state (Virginia Beach VA) for 2 years as I grew up in NY. I pretty much go to work, home, gym, and time with the kids. That's it.

I don't want a plug & play system anymore and my jbl ms2's crapped out on me. I want to try to learn how to run my 80prs in network mode and pick up a set of pro audio drivers and tweeters and take it up a notch or 10!

You are in my old town. Plenty of stuff around there. MECA is big. Go to low low audio in Norfolk. Gabe will know what's going on

Really... That's 15 min from my house!! I have off tomorrow so I will definitely stop there. Would you like me to tell him who suggested them kind sir?

I went to that place & talked to Gabe who demo'd his truck. He sells all DD equipment so there's no other options. No doubt DD makes great subs, but I can't find much on there VO 6.5" drivers. Ive been looking heavy at crescendo's UN-65 6.5" & FT1 tweeters in 4 ohm.

Last I saw him 2 years ago that truck was doing 160s. You heard the VOs. I like them but that's not my taste is speakers
