Comparing: 1 sub vs 2.

I've got a pair of 05 Type R 12s, and a Tsunami DB1100 (650 @ 2 ohm, 1100 @ 1 ohm).

Here's the story, because of space I'm stuck with a maximum of 3.6 cf for the box. At first I was just going to seal the Type Rs in that box and feed them 1100... but now I wonder.... those Type Rs are beefy little subs... would a single Type R benefit more from 650 rms, but that size box? Meaning...

What would be more ideal? Type R 12, sealed, 3.6 cf, 650 RMS... or two Type R 12s, sealed, 3.6 cf, 1100 RMS...

Would 3.6 cf restrict the pair or subs in airspace enough to make it justify using one sub instead?

HAve you already purchased the subs?
I've had the subs since mid fall, quite sad only now I'm finding time to put them in, isn't it?

I was under the impression that 2.2 ish was the size for sealed Type R 12s (at least the 2005 model) but the more I look here the more that doesn't seem so.

Well, the other big fear I had was my electrical system. It tends to dim quite a bit even with 650 RMS running @ 2 ohm. I fear what would happen with 1,100 RMS... *shrugs* I hope it's something the big 3 can fix. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Or an alt from the group buy in the general discussion forum.

I built a box for a 2001 Camaro hatch for 2 type R's, Alpine says they need like .66cubes-1 cube sealed. The box I built was 1 cube per chamber after displacement, the 2 R's were running of a Cadence Z1200 1200wrms @ 1 ohm. It was pretty **** loud and sounded very nice especially for the budget. The guy I done it for was very very pleased with them...

Type R's perform well PORTED in a 2.2cuft box... Sealed, I think thats too much for sure. Id do 1.25cuft max.

I own TypeR's... they really do **** sealed, but they are also nothing to write home about ported.... But Id do 1 ported in about 2.2-2.5cuft and sell the other one, you wont get nearly the output with 2 sealed as you would with 1 ported.

This is my opinion, im sure others will have thier own.

Considering the test I ran across here a while ago, which included an 05 Type R outperforming the RE SX, I think this here would be a good choice, but thanks!

I guess I just thought because of everyone beating the piss out of the Type R's that I was shooting "too" high for a daily driver enclosure for them. I'll probably just scale the box down to about 3.0 internal space, and brace the living HELL out of it... leaving 1.5 for each sub, but with the amount of bracing I'd like to do + displacement, that'd set it just about right.
