Diamond d912d2

I am looking into getting a Diamond d912d2 to run in my boat. On Diamond's site they show a box diagram (http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/Single%2012%20in%20Vented%2005.pdf) that seems rather small for a ported design. Their recommended design is 1.75 cubes with a 4in diameter x 16 inch long port. What boxes does everyone recommend? The small one seems ideal as there is limited space, but I worry it will not allow the sub to play as well as it could and I would prefer a balanced sql setup. Thanks for any help.
