senSeI'm just saying, if JL amps are the best then saying they are the best makes you a jl nuthugger? that somehow just doesn't make sence to me.

Power output isn't the only determining value in amplifier value. i could have an amp that put out 1,000,000 watts with a 20% THD+N @ 4ohms and it wouldn't be worth jack shit.Any of the amps that do 2000+ for ~20 cents a watt(aq 2200, 3500) are a better deal than the jl thats over 50 cents a watt.
Pay attension, my ohm load is going to be 2.67 that has been said. The reason an amp that does the same power at different ohm loads would be good is because with that unusual ohm load i can still get optimum power from the amp. Of course if an amp was 2 ohm stable and had enough power for the price, that wouldn't matter as muchi dont understand why you want an amp that does the same power at different ohm loads ???
pick what ohm load you want and find an amp that does that power. done.
found a factory refurb for 100$ with an original factory warrantyJust make sure you don't spill a coke on your new amp!
That is ridiculous. But the idea that a strictly regulated power supply somehow changes the meaning of the word "underrated" makes no sense to me.My favorite was this local kid telling me that his JL Audio 500/1 was grossly under rated and put out close to 1,100 watts RMS at 4 ohms. I tried telling him that most JL Audio amplifiers are "normally" within 10 to 20% of their actual power rating due to their strictly regulated power supplies but he didn't believe me. He said, and I quote: "The sales associate at Ricky Smiths Audio said it produced twice the power, so you are wrong!" At that point, I just shut my mouth because there is no fix for stupidity.
Looking at test results it doesn't sound like a stretch.lol, sounds like my local shop. Ive been told the 5001/ pushes closer to 700W RMS. My poor little 8" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
thank you. 733! thats about 50% underrated hmmm. That is ridiculous. But the idea that a strictly regulated power supply somehow changes the meaning of the word "underrated" makes no sense to me. PDX & Xenon amps are tightly regulated & underrated as well.

You're obviously trying to show everyone that nothing can compare to JL. Anyways, you might have to go old school and grab a PPI PC21400, PC21400.2 or similar. So no one knows of an amp that can put out more power than the JL with as little THD? for the same or less money?
Hmmm well i may not be a genious but i'm pretty sure that criteria defines them as the best. not to mention the other features the slash amps have. (regulated power supply, advanced bass control, and with the v2's better cooling to reduce compression.)
Maybe I shouldn't have used the term "strictly rated power supply" when I tried talking some sense into the dumbass kid. I meant that J Hell Audio designed that amp to deliver at least rated power into impedance loads between 1.5 and 4 ohms. The fact that he thought he was getting 1100 watts of clean RMS power at 2 ohms from a 500/1 was a pipe dream at best. That is ridiculous. But the idea that a strictly regulated power supply somehow changes the meaning of the word "underrated" makes no sense to me. PDX & Xenon amps are tightly regulated & underrated as well.

I actually have one of these on there way. I really like the same model class a/b 4ch. amps (have 2 of them). You just missed out though, on ebay JBL for the last 2 weeks or so was selling refurbished ones with full warranty in 1 day auctions and I was able to pick 1 up for $163 shipped and the last 2 that I saw end were sold for $110 plus shipping and $120 plus shipping. I wish I had enough cash, I would have bought a few of them.Think i'm definitely going with the JBL GTO14001.
1200x1 @ 4ohms
1500x1 @ 2ohms
so for my 2.67 ohm load that should put me around 1400.
SNR= 108dba @ rated output @4 ohms
THD+N @ rated output
and
FTW... unless someone has something better.
Any reviewers on this amp?
