Common sense, but needs to be said again

In going through some of threads in this forum, I'm amazed at how many people fry equipment. I know it's common sense, and it's been said a billion times, but always, disconnect your car's battery ground while working on your system.

Sure it's inconvenient, and requires extra time, but the money and time you save in the long run is well worth it.

Peace!

never unhooked it and have yet to fry something.

Probably b/c you know what you're doing and are very careful. Many newbs aren't this way. BTW, when I was a newb, I didn't take this advice and fried a really nice ORION 2150 GX.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

If you took a poll, I'd venture to guess at least 50% people have either fried something or popped fuses not following this recommendation.

Anyway, this advice can be taken or ignored. I've learned my lesson.

Another very good piece of information that no one seems to do is remove fuses from fuse holders / fused distribution blocks.

Putting B+ wires into amps with fuses in tact in the holders can lead to a spark show.

Not sure how I know that one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

yeaaa..... umm... I... didnt... do... that... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I didnt at first and I shocked the shit outta myself.. felt 'weird'.

I have never fried anything due to this. I have had others helping me that did not heed this advice and I paid the price. I admit that I have been guilty of not following this very simple rule but I have been lucky not to have done anything myself.
