anyone happen to know the cmx kicks crossover point..? doesnt say in the manual...

and another quick question

im gonna RTA the speakers this week (just need to find a decent mic) - the tweeters sound great but once they hit higher volumes a certain freq. can get a little harsh..

and was just wondering in your ppls experience - what freq's tend to need taming - i know it varies per speaker but i'm guessing the 900-3000 range?

im debating about whether i should go active or get a good EQ or new tweeters .. but ill have to see the RTA first.. before deciding

It really depends on your setup. You should set the crossover point where the speakers aren't bottoming out and where it sounds right so they can blend well with the sub.

As for frequencies that need taming, that is also 100% install and car dependent. With the same components, I had a very laid back sound with almost too much midbass and not enough top end to having a lacking midbass and bright tweeter that got very sibilant around 3.5-4.5kHz. I had to really cut those frequencies down while I never needed to in the previous vehicle.

If you're experiencing a harsh tweeter with a lot of sibilance (that hissing sound noted in upper guitar notes and symbol clashes), you can try cutting out the frequencies I mentioned above. Another thing you could try is repositioning the tweeters. When mine were high up on the door, they were harsh and they smoothed out as I put them off axis and closer to the floor.

you hit the nail on the head with the harshness sound... and like you i also used to have them up high (in the mirrior triangles) and moved them down to the kicks - this helped alot but still could use a little tweeking... the only way i think i could reposition them to help that would be to have aim them forward - but i dont wanna do that from the kick area... so ill check out those freq.

**** eq'less headunit =(

lol
