Clean before deaden?

Which product will you be using?

I have all kinds of VE damping mat in my car and haven't cleaned once single surface. Hell, even eDead kind of stuck for a while. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Only thing I wiped down with 3M Automix adhesive cleaner was the under side of my hood.

If it's obviously dirty, then I'd go with a rag and some Simple Green. Pretty much any butyl based quality damping mat will go down and stay down after that. Of course, if you're cutting corners on quality, then you have other things to worry about as well (ie poor damping performance).

I use either any type of degreaser I have around or DOT 3 brake fluid. I much prefer using the degreaser though as it cleans just as well but is much milder.

Really any type of chemical that can clean will fit the bill, lol.

this is with a black car in the south carolina summer , 100+ daily outside so you know how hot it has to be on the panels themselves

What should I clean my truck with before I sound deaden it? I know its no citris cleaner so I thought about windex?
Im to the bare metal. Also I have that factory tar stuff on certain spots of my truck I guess for heat control, should I remove that or not?
CRC brakeleen

best shit around

Use Denatured Alcohol as it wont damage any paint if you happen to be a little sloppy. It cleans metal real well and its cheap. I removed the tar in my car, but it was a pain in the a** and honestly wasn't required.

If you are interested in my deadener build log, PM me.
