Clarion DPX11551 Mono Amp

trying to power a RE audio Mx sub at 2 ohms.

1000 watts AT LEAST for now.

never heard or been much into any clarion component. what do you guys think. is clarion good for any of their products, is it just cheap priced stuff that arent too good anyways or should i get something better for this sub. i dont want a good sub, and some cheap amp to power it.

ima bout there with ya.researching now. 1st crutchfield is an excelent company to order from. fast great customer service and this amp has a 2 year warranty, And its supposedly been clamped by a forum member to verify its 1550@ 2 power rating. Really no t much to lose.I may have to get 1 for my aq 10.I wish someone on here would get one and reveiew it for us.

Clarion is pretty good quality. I have one of their head units and I love it.

I actually wish I would have bought that instead of my Hifonics 1200. But then again, I was limited for space at the time. But really, you can't beat this amp if you want to run @ 2 ohms.

I am running the DPX1851 at 2 ohms to a 13w6v2 in my 2006 Mustang GT and thus far I am impressed with it. IMHO, you can't go wrong if all you are looking for is power @ 2 ohms and I believe mine is more than capable of pushing every bit of its 850 watts RMS.

I am still not done with the install, but this is how it sits for now:

They are solid amps, just have a huge footprint.

Also, they are strappable.

I have a customer at the shop running the 800w version on 2 DD1512's...he loves it.

He has sent me quite a bit of business due to this install, its outperforming many of his buddies 2-15 setups.

Is the DPX11551 pretty much the same as the older version? I am wondering if it is as efficient as most class D amp, as Clarion suggests using a big 200A fuse!

Hmmm..... Might have to get two and strap them for 3kw at 1 ohm. Thats a lot of power for $400.....

a friend of mine got one of the older model. The rating at 4ohm doesn't seems accurate at all, but it does produce alot of power at 1ohm.

we use it to fry a pa acoustic sub, good times

Built like a tank and from what few reviews/tests I've seen they have all done just over their rated power.

I had a clarion APA4160 from back in '96. Miss that amp and took all of the abuse I put it through. Wish I had it still.

That's funny you mention that because I was surprised at how small it was when I opened it. It's all relative I guess.
