Right now I have a 270a alt and 3 d3100 and a d3400 up front. Im wondering what else ill need to demo and not drop below 12.6 for clamping 6k. I don't believe a 2nd alt is possible on my vehicle unless I lose ac.

I was thinking of going to a 370a alt but this is daily driven. What pros and cons of a 370?

Can I get away with 5 g31 and a g34 to clamp 6-7k? 1 g31, g34, and 45ah lithium?

If you're wanting to hold 12.6+, that's mostly on the alt. The batteries aren't doing much until about 12.8v.

370 will give you more idle output and total output. There's really no reason to add more battery weight rather than go up to a 370. We are dealer for Mechman and USAlts so pm me with your vehicle info and I can get you a quote. The batteries you already have should be plenty.

yes but I have been told the 370 runs nearly nothing at idle until you rev over 1000. I have a 270a singer right now, id just have him recase if I was going to do it. Unless anyone knows where to get a dual alt bracket for a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L

Not a fan of 370s id perfer a 320 7phase. Pair or trio of g31s in rear and bump on. If weight is issue then a juice o.5 or if rich a xs30k. I love 14v but I don't sweat in the 12s. Hell these are 12v electronics..

whats the difference between a 6 phase and 7 phase? Singer said next from my 270 is a 370. I actually had asked about a 320 and he said next step is 370. Would I even notice a huge difference going to a 320 from a 270? Doesn't seem worth it.

right now im on a 5k wired to 1 ohm. Rising to 2.2 I clamped 2700 rms. my voltage legit doesn't drop below 13.9 right now.

There's no such thing as a 7 phase. If you're only clamping 2700 I wouldn't worry too much about upgrading electrical - as someone else said maybe add a bank of ultracaps if you're really picky about voltage - you honestly don't have bad voltage at all.

yeah you're good, add the new amp you might see it drop below 12.6 and add a bank of caps youll be up another volt or two easy. no point in spending lots of money or weight on batteries. you can find a bank of maxwell caps with bus bars for ~200 used and not much more new

I have a 6 phase hairpin 270 in there now.
either way if you gonna get the 370 amp alt. Tell him to make ANY adjustments possible that you get full charging voltage no matter what the RPM is. OR tell him to mod the alt so that you can use some voltage control module like XS power's. I seriously believe that this is the most important step because the 370 not charging at idle is completely true and is annoying as fk. I have a 320 just like that and after i bought the alt, then singer brings up that fking option which requires me to take out my alt and ship it back to him and pay a fee.... FK that.

I clamp around 6.5k with a 320 amp alt.

You're coming up really tight on space in that Jeep anyway and for the cost of dual alt or throwing away your existing alternator to get one that claims 370 (hot I'd believe it when I see it) AND a couple more batteries and you're almost in for the cost of a LiFePo.

I'm looking to add more power at some point and I'm pretty convinced that's the way I'm going.

I would have to look at what he said. I think he said it will charge at idle just very low. Obv id want it higher. But what is the highest idle id want daily? Say I can get it bumped up to 750 would that be enough to get the same output as my 270a does?

the control module is almost like an external regulator but the display goes inside the vehicle? Id like to charge at 15.0 even when hot. But doubt that can happen

Doesnt matter what he says, He has an option that forces the alt to charge at max even at idle. Its what he offered me AFTER i ran into alt issues. The XS power module does the same thing. Full power at idle is what you want especially if you plan on demo'ing a lot. Its fking annoying having your foot on the gas pedal and wastes a lot of gas too. I'm going through that hassle every time at a show.
