choosing wire gauge!

i have a visonik 4-channel that is rated at 125wrms x 4 @ 4 ohms and a hifonics bx1000d that is rated at 1000wrms x 1 @ 1 ohm. my question is what gauge wire do i want to run to both of these amps. the visonik has a fuse rating of 50 amps and the hifonics has a fuse rating of 80 amps. i plan to run 4 gauge from the batt to a distro block and then 4 gauge to the visonik and 4 gauge to the hifonics. this sound like a good plan? any suggestions?

I would run the fatest wire possible from the front to rear distribution block, then use something smaller to the amps...

Also, most amps have terminals on them now days, like the Hifonics amp.

I think it will accept up to 4 guage. So, Whatever the biggest size the amp will accept, I would use as that, then atleast double for front to rear.....

I'd rather spend a few bucks extra and have way more than what I need than a little less than what I need...

so i should run 0/1 gauge to a fused distro block and then 4 gauge to both amps? btw do i need a fused distro block?
Myself yes, I would run 0/1 from front to rear to a PDB, then 4 ga. to your amp... If its not fused on the side of it, I'd get a fuse block (all the wiring cos PG, Schosce, Lightning.. etc.. etc..) make add on fuse blocks and fused PDBs...

when you say "if its not fused on the side of it", what do you mean??
The AMP, if it doesn't already have fuses in the side of its Chassis... Some do, some don't...

Look at this pic, (sorry its big)

on the left side you'll see 2 60 AMP fuses, thats on the side of it... If yours is like that then your not really getting anything by adding another fise between the amp and distribution block, if it does not, then I'd add a fuse block or get a PDB with Fused outputs..

whoa, big pic! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks man! my amps have fuses in the chassis. you think i should purchase a amp kit such as a stinger or streetwires kit that has 0/1 gauge wiring or should i purchase the power and ground wires etc. seperate?

Its gonna take some reseach on your part...

Whatever is the best Deal for you..

I mean, you will prolly get a better price on a package deal, but it might not have the exact parts you want and have some that you don't want...

If you buy everyhing part by part, you might spend a tad more, but you'll deffinitly get exacly what ya want...

So look at all the Kits and prives, if one completly fits your bill, I might go with it, if it doesn't then what will it cost to add those parts,,,

Like I said, you have to do some shopping...

I love to support local shops, but unless they know you, they will **** you on accessories... HUGE Margin/Markup...

Look at places like

www.soundomain.com

www.thezeb.com

www.audiooutfitter.com

www.partsexpress.com

There are prolly more... I have ordered tons from Sounddomain and parts express... Both have decent site, ship times and good customer service..
