choosing my amp

I have 1 JL12W7 (SVC 3ohm). The RMS is about 750 and peak is about 1000. I'm considering the JL 1000/1 class D. It says it puts out 1000 watts RMS from 1.5 to 4 ohms. Now this may sound stupid but does this mean that the sub is constantly getting 1000 watts. Will it be safe to run sub on this.

alot of amp have an adjustment on the side that will turn down the juice so you might want to check that on the amp you're looking at first & see if you can work with it & that sub...just a thought
