Chevy Restoration.

coming along nicely, now to move onto the hard part though. All the crevices and openings and stuff in the inside of the frame rails and the crossmembers will be a pain, specially the underside. It will all be worth it in the end though.

Will certainly be much more enjoyable working with the new parts versus the old rusted up parts.

yes it will and to be honest im not going to take as much time on the cross members and insides. ill make sure they are nice and sealed up and painted well, but they wont be nice and smooth like the frame rails.

Wow man. Nice work on the frame. I havent dove into the frame on my s-10 too much yet, but I did coat the back half with POR15 last summer before winter hit. I didnt do much prep, just trying to get it sealed up for the time being.

But wow, you did a nice job prepping up the metal. I love POR, it levels out really nicely and its pretty tough stuff. I just hit the back half with a wire wheel and some brushes to get the big stuff off, then I hit the sides of the frame rails a little more. But I just gave it one solid coat at the time and it looked pretty good to me, for the work I put into it.

Im glad to see with the right prep that it can turn out that nicely. Kinda makin me excited to get workin on that thing again.

Keep up the good work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks man yea it was a lot of work to make them look good, i have 4 coats on both sides right now. it takes forever to do everything right so i dont have to hit it again in 5 years. hopefully ill get the fans done by tomorrow going to buy new sheet metal now.

Well i got a good bit done, but also took a bit of a step back. I punched a hole in my radiator so i upgraded to a 34 inch so i need to make yet another mount for the fans. How ever in the last 2 days i DID get the e fan controller mounted and have it wired just waiting for the final placement of the fans to finish the wiring and clean it all up as it looks like a jungle right now. I also finished painting the frame for now, there is one cross member and most of the inside of the drivers side that is not painted but the rest is w 4-5 layers. tomorrow all the new suspension hardware will go on gas tank will go back in and hopefully the radiator will be here and i can go buy the new hoses and make a new mount for the fans. basically i wanna have EVERYTHING as far as suspenion and the fan done and put back together tomorrow, just waitin on springs. Enough ramblin onto the pics.

new shocks compared to old ones... reaaallly old ones

YESSSSSS still waitin on my new radiator tho

Progress is nice very close to rolling around again, but gotta get that axle covered in Por 15 too.

oh and +1 for LMC Truck

and +1 for Craftsman jack stands, I got the same ones.

yea ik abt the axel... the axel and drive shaft will be por 15d when i do the rear gears here in the next couple months... i just need to get it moving around again so i can clean and organize the shop... its a MESS

Well i still have the underside of both cross members, drive shaft, inside of drivers side frame rail and rear end to por 15, but thats it. Tomorrow im going to power wash everything then put the gas tank back in, put the new radiator in and new hoses. Thatll b it for tomorrow then thursday ill hopefully be able to drive the truck around the block once, THROUGHLY CLEAN THE SHOP, then pull it back in and rip the front end apart to do the drop up there. as well as por 15 as much as i can. thats enough rambling heres the pictures and let me say words do not describe my happiness that i finally got this out of the shop.

grrrr and its dirty.

CIMG2505.jpg

I dont know if its the fact that the bumper is off or just where its sitting on my drive or the fact that the *** went down so much it made the rear lift but check out the HUGE wheel gap up front.

tomorrow itll be running. disconnected the old radiator tonite and started cleaning the garage so that tomorrow goes smoother. all im doing tomorrow is dropping in the new radiator finishing wiring of the e fans and puttin the gas tank in and hopefully shell turn over and drive like shes supposed to... then back into the garage for the weekend to put on the new brakes and try to lower the front.

Well i finally got my SS EOC lines run, fan mount finished up, and wired. Truck started and got the fans set to turn on with the flex a lite fan controller, boy the ls1 fans push a LOT of air. Some pics and a vid... hopefully get the underside of the bed painted and put back on by tomorow.

Old rad out

Still gotta clean up my wiring and fix a leak on the ****** cooler lines which is probably just o rings.

and i made the truck much quieter too,

hehe

new radiator looks sweet, and that fan shroud you made looks good too. Took me a few seconds staring at it to find what you had made.

Gonna look amazing with the front end dropped and the bed back on it.
