i know they are usually chick/ghey cars , but the price they seem to be going for now is not bad. i was looking to see what everyone has to say about them as far as common problems , ease of installation , reliability and any other input. id have around $2k (more or less) to spend when the time comes and would like something that wont have me walking.

im sure this will get teh flamez but i dont care. i would get a civic or something similar if i could ever find one thats not so expensive and hasnt been ragged out by some kid.

so....

Hey i have a 2000 Cavalier that i bought 5 years ago and it had 60000 miles on it then. It now has 110000 miles on it. Very reliable car with no complaints. Very low maintenance. Fairly easy to put headunit in dash. Lots of room for subwoofer enclosure. I would not hesitate to buy one. Good luck. Cheers.

good shit.

ive been looking through the auto trader and the 99-01's seem to be around 25-3500. while 94-96 civics are going for the same price , if not more. plus with the fart can mufflers , giant intakes and neon spark plug wires , i really wouldnt want to even bother looking at one of those.

I think I mentioned to you about mine.

Little more depth.

My 85 I had lasted my a couple years, but was a hand me down car from my parents and had a lot of damage to it from an accident. Anyway had over 130k on the clock when I got it and ran awesome! Drove that bish for 2 years, but wanted something nicer looking.

My 99z24 was a lot of fun, but I dumped a shit ton of money into the engine and was a 12 second cavalier, lol! I ended up warping my heads due to it getting to hot because of the NOS.........replaced engine and sold it for 6500 as I wanted a truck.

My 2002 cavy was just a DD and ran awesome and didn't do much to it, besides a basic system and drove it for a few years and never had to do anything besides general maintenance. Don't know why I got rid of that one. It was yellow and started to get on my nerves, maybe that was why. Glad I did though, as I had my first child a year later and my 4 door Focus ST fit the bill.

Now I need to trade that in on an SUV or van as I have one in the oven. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Need triple row seating, lol!

Fawk, I go through a lot of cars!

My sister is selling her 98 cavalier with 94,000 miles on it for $1700. Too bad you don't live closer...although it's teal, but in great condition for how old it is.

BBT , i dont think you replied to the thread where i origonally asked. oh well , thanks for your input.

i wont be doing anything performance-wise to it. i just want a solid DD that wont break down and cost more than what the car is worth to fix. and MPGz is always a huge plus.

lol @ everyones sister/gf having one.

I hate to start a bickering feud, but i would need to see time slips to believe you got into the 12's with a fwd cavy. Nos is a cool charge, and would have NO effect on your heads warping. If anything it would push your head gasket out, or eat up some piston rings. It could be many things from not retarding your timing, pounding your bearing out of wack, allowing the piston to slap the head / valve.

Who knows with those dime a dozen 4 bangers.

My roommate had a 98ish cavy. It was a beater, neglected, and driven hard but it never broke down or had any major work done. Starter / alt is all i believe.

so they seem to be a pretty decent daily...
now...

how much of a *** would i look like driving one?

I will dig up time slips but I ran 11.5 in a 2000 z24 at gateway race track and I have seen faster out of cavaliers
