I guess you don't consider the contents of your hdd to be very important. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If he truly knew what he was doing he would never pair an 8" sub with a 3" coil. You will get so little travel from the spider that no amount of power will make it perform as good as a cheap, low power 8" driver.
Not true, the more "waves/ripples" the spider has, along with how big they are crest to trough, will help determine how much the spider can travel.

and just how much is there when you have a 3" coil shoved into an 8" basket. Not much wiggle room left for the spider.

I believe most 8"s baskets use a 6"ish spider. So you would have 3" left of spider given that me recollection is correct. Which i believe since the coil is in the middle would mean 1.5" of spider all the way around the coil. Not much x-max happening if what i believe, is correct. Maybe someone can say for sure.

So you're saying sundownz doesn't truly know what he's doing either? He's working on a 3" coiled 8" atm.

I wont go so far as say anyone doesn't know what they are doing, but bose301 is quite right that a 3" coil in an 8" sub creates some serious suspension issues. Not impossible to overcome, but cutting the hole on your 2" ID spider into a 3" hole is not a viable solution. IIRC Jake at Sundownz is working on special spiders for this very reason.
