So far I am liking it. I got it for $230 shipped so it is definitely on the lower end of the DVD scale. I'll break down the pros and cons quickly for it. I've only been using it a week and haven't got through every mode yet but here's what I have.

PROS:

1. price - for that price you can't go wrong, when I was in high school you were looking at $300+ for something that costs $50 at kmart nowadays.

2. ease of use - the touchscreen works well and the setup for all of the audio, video, and other functions is easy to find and use.

3. screen - the clarity is perfect and is bright enough for anyone liking. I have it less than half way and it's plenty bright for me.

4. remote - now everything comes with a remote but this one is sturdy enough to last though a few beatings. I do wish some buttons were bigger than others but overall I can't complain.

5. usb - usb works great for storing mp3's and paying them

CONS:

1. radio screen - it's dull and cheesy, looks like it's from the 80's. This doesn't bother me as much as I know it would for others.

2. EQ - It has limited setting available. It does have the normal 5 EQ presets (rock, jazz, pop, etc.) But it only allows you to adjust treble, bass, and subwoofer.

oh the one other gripe I have about the PA head unit is it takes forever to load a CD/DVD or new USB drive once you put it in. If you change songs after every CD this will kill you. That luckily is not my style.

Well it turns out I got burnt by some jackass on ebay for my subs and amps. I'm currently going through the wonderful dispute process with paypal, fun fun. Hopefully I'll be able to recover some or all of my cash.

But so I'm not completely without music, I've decided to buy a different setup to use in my car. I just ordered 2 RE audio SE12's and a Hifonics Brutus 1208D amp. I had to go a cheaper route but from what I've read this should be just fine for I'm looking to do. I got the whole package pretty cheap, about $440 total with shipping. We'll see how this goes now, the box will have to be modded a little to fit their optimal specs but as it stands now after the displacement it's only like .1 cu. ft. off from that so I may just try it as is and see how it sounds.

Everything should be here by this weekend.

Hey Dave, nice work so far. Read thru the post & looked over your schematic, just wanted to tell you your instincts are good & you're going in the right directions (things like wire guage, etc), so don't feel like you have to yield to every piece of advice these yahoos throw at you. Looks good so far.
