check out the HT we're going to build

im not a big fan of hitachi saws period, regardless of the blade. we had a bunch of them on one of our last jobsites and all the workers did was ***** about how shitty they are.. and with good reason. i forget what we replaced them with though

eh, the saw is a great tool, the basic blades are not; they're weak. the table saw i want to buy is like 300~ (hitachi). my neighbor who is a woodworker has had the same model for around 2 years with no problems. my drill is a medium duty hitachi as well; not a makita, but still strong as hell.

For the table saw, get the best fence you can get, and extend the table to the right side to atleast 40 inches, and an outfeed table prob about 2 feet or maybe longer. If you do that, you will enjoy it. Also, buy a good quality miter gague, its a must.

Are those all the crossover components your using for the entire setup?
hes going to run them fullrange but most likely going to use a L-pad or whatever you call it to tame the highs if they need it. and he only needs one crossover and its for the center channel because it has a tweet in there.

nope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif the center is a LR 2nd order w/ no resistors. the others are full range, and i MAY add some notch filters if they need to be cleaned up.

i believe it was ramos who linked me to these rollers (u can cut basically ANYTHING with 'em) to support the wood. i'll make sure i do the shit right, i can't afford to have anymore ******* crooked cuts (craftsman = *** job).

OH sorry, i'll get them RIGHT NOW
bear with me, imageshack is being retarded

oh, it's a miter saw. i wouldn't own one of thse because i have no need to //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wtf? Do you cross cut EVERYTHING to the proper length or what? A power Miter is a **** nice tool to have.

i dont think he was bashing it, anyway yeah. i could really give a shit less about saws being as i dont know anything about them and prefer to spend my time in the office

I don't know about their table saws, but Hitachi makes a **** fine compound miter...if you get a sliding compound one, you can use it almost like the old radial arm saws out to around 11".

Oh, and Freud blades FTW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Use the cheap shit for basic rip work. Spend the chedda for when it needs to look good.

Oh, and re: preamps...

A preamp (whether solid state or "hollow state") serves two basic functions (three, if you count draining your wallet and giving you a bigger e-penii as another)...improving the impedance mismatch between source and power amplifier, and providing some way to attenuate/control the level going into the amplifier, which may not have that control.

High power amplifiers might not need a lot of gain in the preamp stage, which is why you see cathode followers and other buffer stages used that don't have a lot of gain. Passive preamps like I described that provide no gain at all are used by some people, but it depends on the PA you have.
