Assuming that your paying around 350.00 plus shipping for a d3100, you should look into the hx400 batteries. In my testing, the hx400 was .2 db louder on a burp then a powermaster d3100(ss-nw setup). The hx400 can be had for around 280.00 shipped. Hope this helps. Good luck
