cheap system for a friend?

My friend drives a honda civic. And he knows next to nothing about car audio.

He currently has 2x12inch kenwood subs and some amp. I have no idea the specs or model number of his equpiment, or if his current box is sealed or vented. And he has no idea either, he just bought it no questions asked from his cousin.

He spent $250 for his subs, amp, amp kit, and box.

He asked if I could build something better for around the same price.

Do you think a single 12 type R and a crunch PZi 1000.1 would be good for him?

He has his speakers powered off his headunit.

So i guess a 2 channel bridged or a mono amp would work fine.

Like I said, I have no idea. I havnt really had a chance to look over all his equipment.

The Crunch is rated to output 1000 @ 1 ohm, but I think I could safely say that it will not do a clean 1000, if it even hits 1000 watts at all.

I dont think he would be too worried about the quality.

So maybe I could set him up with it running at 500rms at 2 ohms?

buy a used type r and then you should have enough money to buy a real 1000 watts

I highly doubt you will get any of the Crunch PZi 1000.1's rated power at any load!

I did some searching. And from what I can remember. His subs look somewhat like the KFC W3009.

Im guessing his subs are underpowered. I doubt his amp is giving them both 400rms. Maybe 400 between the two of them.

Perhaps maybe just an amp upgrade would be good for him?
