charging a kinetik 2400

I am wondering of whats the best way to charge a kinetik 2400. I know my alt will charge it but I like charging it before comps and then just ever so often. But I'm wondering whats the best way of doin it. When I bought it the guy told me to charge it for a couple hours before a comp at 2 amp.

The battery charger I have has two switches

First Switch:

20 amp start

40 amp

Second Switch:

2 amp

charge

I usually have it on 40 amp and 2 amp. Because charge points to 20 amp start so I figured 2 amp went with 40 amp.

I've only done this a couple of times so I wanted to make sure of the best way before i did it too many times.

Also would it be good to charge my wetcell everstart battery under the hood before comps? If so how should I charge it.

I charge my batteries at 2 amp for 12 hrs before the comp, as far as the stock battery goes it won't take near as long to charge so keep an eye on that one. Make sure you have a dmm near so the voltage doesn't get too high...

Should I charge the everstartt the same way as the kinetik just not as long?

Whats the highest i should charge the kinetik to? What about the everstart?

with the 2400 you can charge it at 40 amps thing is you want to monitor the voltage going to it so that it DOES NOT go above 15.2 volts

So anything under 15.2 volts would be alright? So 15.1 volts wouldn't be too much? I thought you werent supposed to charge them over 14 volts.

at the 40 amp setting (when you start seeing the voltage rise its getting close to a full charge dont leave it to get to 15.2). your best bets would be A. get an agm battery charger or B. get a 100 amp variable voltage supply and set it for 14.5V.

Well like I said all I have is just a plain battery charger. Nothing fancy.

Its ok to charge your everstart at 2 amp, I'd do it for like 6 hours

when you charge by "amps" the closer to a full charge you get the higher the voltage goes....so when it gets to 15.1 volts its charged. reason i brought up power supplies is due to the fact that the voltage STAYS the same and then the current runs down, meaning when you start it may charge at 14.5v at 25 amps but it will eventually be at 14.5v at 2 amps and you can leave it unattended for a time more safely. charging at a higher current then the battery not needing it causes the voltage to rise where you could eventually cook a battery. AGM chargers have special curcuitry that charges in steps so you dont over charge the cells and in the cycles they do pack as much power as the battery can hold (these tend to get expensive)

So have it on 40 amp and 2 amp? And yes when I set the timer it starts charging.

The thing is it never really seems to charge a whole lot. I haven't ever seen it charge to even 14 volts.

When you change the switch that has 2 amp above it, does the voltage go up?
