Changing battery location

I have a Buick Lesabre (2000). The battery sits in a compartment underneath the rear seat. I absolutely HATE this. I would like to add a bigger, more efficient battery to my system, (versus adding a second battery) but my options are limited due to the fact that the battery compartment is not very large. It would be a whole lot easier if I could move the battery to the trunk. Would this be a difficult task to accomplish?

2 batts are usually better than one

^^^^^ what he said is usually true. But if you want to just change batt location that is fine people with race car move the battery to the trunk even out weight. Either way would be fine.

NO.. When running a bank of abtteries is is best for them to be identical even the same age or they will drain and go back quickly.. this does not work.. ESPECIALLY hwen you have a stock lead acid batt and a high performance car audio batt.. What amps are you running?? just that 3200?? If thats the case i would just get a big batt and call it good.. If you got more i would get 2 batts identical and stack em together and get rid of your old one

if your voltage drops and stays low around 12 with a couple batts that when you need more alt... a factory alt should be able to handle 3k watts with a bat or 2 tho

Yeah, it would just be the 3200. I guess I will follow through with my plan of putting the new batt in the trunk then. What should I use to cover the exposed wire after I cut and splice the current posts/wire to the extension cable that goes to the new batt in the trunk?

Any advice one how to circumvent the stock battery posts? (The ends that come from the car, and connect to the battery) Is there any way to preserve them, or will I be forced to cut the ends off to add an extension to the wire to get it to my trunk?

The new battery will be going into the trunk. But I need about 6 more feet of wire to connect the cables to the battery back there. I am jus trying to figure out how do I go about extending the wires.

why not just throw another run of 1/0 from the alt to the new battery?

Get a D3100 for the rear and a good quality battery that'll fit in the stock location. Just get a Powermaster D3100 and a 3400.

One D3100 will support that pretty well, you could get away with relocating and using just one D3100 in the trunk, but of course the battery is rather large. A 3400 should fit in the stock location though..

Relocation is super easy, extend the cables and route them into the trunk to the battery.

You can go about extending or replacing the stock cables in a bunch of ways.

However.. One cannot truly support that much power on a stock charging system, an alternator would be ideal and you'd be set to kick out zeh powah!

But either an alternator or any big *** mobile audio battery will work as a first step... I am just in favor of the Powermasters after seeing what they are capable of //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah I will eventually be upgrading the Alt, but for now I'm just gonna replace the stock batt with a bigger one. Any recommendations for an aftermarket alternator that will work well in my Buick Lesabre?
