factory issue

here is the issue, then i will give more detail. hooked up my subwoofer and ampifier (using factory head-unit) and (not even sure if this is where the issue started) now my factory alarm is kinda trippin out. the siren will randomly go off, and is acting all weird. I just got this 2002 Impala, and it appears to have an after-market alarm installed judging by the module under my steering column, but i was not given an transmitter of any sort, just the factory alarm transmitter. The module has tapped into numerous wires. It still has the factory deck, which a converter was hooked up to, to be able to hook up the subwoofers RCA's. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Also, the remote wire is on the accessory/cigarrette lighter and the RCA's are connected to the wire harness from the rear speakers' amplifier..... any thoughts would be great. also, let me know if you need more information.

take it to a shop. ask them to disconnect the aftermarket alarm. if you're not sure what it is, you can disable the car by disconnecting it incorrectly.

next, buy a line output converter (LOC) with an remote turn on feature - don't use the cig lighter.

what amplifier do you have?

its a pioneer 760. its not very powerful, but it gets what i need done.

also, its just an accessory fuse, there shouldn't be any problem doing it there, i would rather not buy another LOC for i will probably be getting an after market head unit soon. IIRC when we took off the remote wire altogether, the alarm was still acting up and being weird. think it is more the after market alarm conflicting with the factory one..?

i agree an aftermarket head unit is your best bet.

you have no idea how that alarm is integrated with the vehicle, and no way to control it. can you look and find a model number/manufacturer? if so, then you can download an installation manual. then you can trace all of the wires, one by one, and eliminate the taps and repair any splices (with the battery disconnected). if you want to use the aftermarket alarm, you still need to trace each wire to verify how it's installed, and try to buy remotes for it. don't assume the previous owner did anything correctly.
