Car sub on a home amp

i put my 12" punch z's on my pioneer home stereo reciever (100x2), they hit, but not nearly as good as they did on my 401s.....prolly because the 401s was puttin out twice the wattage, and the pioneer reciever sends high frequencies to the sub.........but if u have a cheap sub and u want to fill out ur home stereo sound, do it, its up to u.....

heh...
subs are subs are subs...and a watt is a watt...in terms of measurement. The same principles that apply in car audio apply to home audio as well.
exactly. So you probably wouldnt want to hook up a 4 ohm sub to an 8 ohm receiver...

You wouldn't want to hook up a sub to any receiver...the receiver simply provides the low level (or high level) input signal, and a plate or rackmount power amp takes care of driving the sub...

wouldnt the receiver still move the sub even if it is only 100w? It obviously wouldnt get loud but is there any reason why it wouldnt sound good?

I doubt you have a 100W subwoofer output from your receiver...

If you're talking about running your receiver as a makeshift sub amp, I guess you could do that, but the sub needs to be 4 ohm DVC or 8 ohm SVC.

For a hundred bucks (for 250W at 4 ohms) at Parts Express, there's no reason not to go with a real subwoofer amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
