Car receiver mutes itself?

I installed a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD a few years ago. It connects through a GMOS-01. It has started randomly muting itself, and I am unable to unmute it. It will eventually unmute on it's own, but I haven't found much of a pattern.

I have taken it out and cannot find it grounding anywhere so I am at a loss. Any help to fix it is appreciated.

Will unconnecting the mute wire from the receiver to the GMOS-01 fix it? The mute out on the the other side of the GMOS-01 doesn't connect to anything.

pretty sure you just don't connect the mute wire to anything... not sure what GMOS-01 is tho

It's the Metra GMOS-01 wiring harness/adapter. It's required for aftermarket receivers in my vehicle (Trailblazer) since most the electric and security functions are connected to the vehicle's stereo system. That's my understanding of it anyways. Without it, the aftermarket receiver wouldn't work.

I never use adapters... havnt done a blazer tho. get the wiring diagram of the stereo system in your car and compare it to the harness adapter. you may have the wrong adapter for the year of car or something.

it has to be a problem with your wiring, check and check again!

I'm by no means an expert, but I have looked over the mute wiring repeatedly. The only thing i can think of is that it's grounding somewhere, and I've looked over every mm of the wire and nothing is exposed to allow for the grounding. It's only a total of maybe 6 inches of wire between the HU and the harness. The Head Units wire is Yellow and Black, the harness' is Brown. Soldered together and completely covered.

Only other option I have found on the net is the Head unit is going to crap. I have heard the 4300 series has had issues.

have you tried to press and hold the reset button on the front face? sorry should have said todo this first.
