I have a question. I'm thinking of Getting a Mustang GT....now with the V8....how much should i expect my insurance to raise. I did a quote on progressive.com, and in the years up to 2000 it doesn't make a diff if its a v6 or not....but after that it raises it only like 20 bucks a month. I think a quote i got from a 2004GT was only 180 bucks a month or like 980 paid in full. That doesn't seem like that much.......am i missing something

Ive had some peeps tell me insurance would kill me, and others say it wouldn't be that bad...so i'im confused

I have 0 speeding tickets and nothing on my record what so ever....besides 1 parking ticket.

????? depends on your age, ***, driving history, location, and insurance company

there's no set 'increase' for any given car

shop around, and you should be able to stay about the same

i don't assume you have too many assets to protect, since you're 18

SO is the " paid in full amount" they say the only payment i'd have to make as long as i owned that car? I thought you just payed monthly insurance on the car till you got rid of it. I know next to nothing about this cause my parents always took care of it. I'm just trying to get an idea.

All i have is a 200 dollar car payment

if you're keeping the car for a while, and can afford it, you'll always save money by paying for 6 months at a time

plus you're gauranteed no lapses in coverage between payments, if your check doesn't arrive on time

i've seen some companies discount quite coniderably for paying full terms up front, others are only a few $100 a year different

Go to progressive or gieco and get a free quote. You can also always call your insurance agent with a vin number and they can instantly quote you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

word, progressive is usually my 1st stop, cause they give you a bunch of quotes

i hate the fact that those instant quotes are usually wrong, tho

if you have any recent points or problems on your record, you'll get a message after you sign up saying stuff like "due to a speeding violation in 10/2004, your rate has increase to xxx a month" and then asks if you if you still want to sign up

Yeah, paid in full is for the whole six months as someone said. Six months from now, you pay it again.

Start by calling your current agent (or company if you are with one of the companies that don't use agents - which is a mistake, btw) and ask them for a quote to replace your current car with the 'Stang, that will be your most accurate quote.

If you don't like what they tell you then shop around for quotes from other companies. Don't let anyone stick you with a company that is not an "A" rated (or better) company, cause as the economy slows, some companies will go under.

If the people you get the new quotes from try to pull the old "bait & switch" by offering you one price on the phone but then it goes up when you get there, get up and walk out, they are either crooks or incompetent. Seriously, that is a VERY common practice among shady insurance salesman and if they do that, heaven knows what other garbage they will try to pull on you.

Oh and BE SURE to pin them down on what limits (if any) they have on custom equipment and give them a written schedule of your equipment whan you go in, including install costs. Some companies don't cover custom equipment unless it is scheduled and an additional premium paid.

As far as my bona fides on this topic, I am insurance agent and have been in the industry for 17 years.
