hey guys got a little problem when i idel somtimes my car will seem like its going to die. rpms drop themn come back. very odd. at first i thought it might be my fuel filter so i changed it, but still same problem. it seems to happen much more often when i play my system. i got a 100 amp alt with a yellow top in there is it possible that the yellow top is not keeping a charge? i had it tested but they always say its putting out the right amount of volts. but if iam not mistaken yellow tops always put out the right amount of volts even with a very low charge. plz post your insight on this matter.

Hmmm.. You say the RPM at idle drops, rises, drops, rises, and repeats? Sounds like something with the intake. Take a vaccuum cleaner to your air filter. Clean it up as best you can. If it helps at all, you might want to look into a new one and a mass airflow sensor.

Alternatively, take your ear under the hood with the car running at idle. Leave the stereo off. Listen for the tell-tale whistle of a vaccuum leak. Your engine's health takes a real hit when you have those. Especially at idle.

I really don't know what I'm talking about.

how old is your car? Could just be the electrical system is just worn. Also, how much gear are you running in your car as far as audio goes? Sounds like the stock system is failing at keeping up with the increased demand for power.

i drive a 88 chevy astro van(PIMPED hehe). its a 4.3l TBI engine ive talk to a few people and it looks like its coming down to two things eather my fuel pump is going or there is somthing fuc-ked with my TBI(I HATE TBI) ill just have to not drive it until monday until i can get a mechanic friend to look at it. thanks for the help tho fellas, means alot.

ohh and about the, i think its my system thats doing it. i think that was just all in my head. i really would have liked that to be the problem cuz if there is somthing i know its my system.

front = cdt cl-641(IEK-25s)(soon will be ID CD1e v2 with koda 6 midbass)

rear = cdt cl-61

sub = xxx 18(**** cone 7.5 cubes 35hrz)

Sounds like a vacuum hose is disconnected. Check all the connections
