Check this out guys. A few weeks ago my buddy came to me asking wut he could get for about 800 bux. He not really into SQ he just wanted somthing that would rattle your fillings out. He has a Toyota Camry like me. I advised him to get 2 12" Kicker L7's and a Hifonics 2006.1. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif Well it all came in and he took it to a local shop. He was on talking ground with the local shop beacuse his father went through them to get a system put in his 50's chevy bomb. Well when he brought it they were calling the amp garbage and the kickers garbage. Trying to get him to buy amps from them and a couple Orion H2's. Anyways, they hook up his stuff and he calls me tellin me how its not even powering it. The subs were not even moving they had so little juice. They blamed it on being a POS amp and told him he should have gotten their stuff. Well hes pretty much pissed at me and he kinda thinks they are tryin to get over on him. He brought his car by and I found out they had the low pass so high it wasnt letting low's through, they messed with every possible setting on the HU so kill any bass. So i fixed that and it sounded nice be we noticed ony 1 sub was firing!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif Do you guys think they wired it wrong? I told him to have them wire them down to 1 ohm (2 dual 4 ohm subs). Also is there anyhting he can do about this besides just have them fix it? Im pissed! Hes pissed! Well, thats messed up, but next time be a friend and hook it up for him since you seem like you know what you're doing. Take the subs out, fix whatever needs to be fixed and go down there and piss on their display H2...

yea thing is hes they type of guy that needs his stuff RITE NOW! not later. That and im always working. He also thought the shop was kool with him and there would be no probs. But hey, we all learn dont we.

Im going to have a look at it for him tomorrow, see if they even wired his subs down correctly in the box.

People need to have more patience. I have an 18" BTL just sitting in my closet :-( Oh well. I'd rather do things right than rush them and turn out like your friend.

they prolly wired it to 4 ohms or something to keep it from hitting

take the wires off the subs and rewire them right. check all your settings and reset the gains. Then after you get it all set up right.. then go park right in front of their place and boom. When they come out and ask you why you are sitting in front of their store shaking the place just say well you said there was no bass and it was hardly moving the subs.. whats the problem? Oh yeah! well yeah I just rewired it like it was supposed to and tuned it.. well um.. it seems to sound fine now.. maybe tell your install go to go back to BestBuy.

while the L7's may be "child's play", believe it or not, some people don't have $300 to throw at a massive SQL driver.

For ~$150, subs like L7's and Type-arghs get decently loud and sound nice.

L7's don't sound nice, but I do understand the situation completely. I had a 15" L7, and while it did good for the price, it sounded like ***.

I could set off car alarms goin 35mph though, so I was happy for the time being.
