Car audio problem

Sometimes when i turn my head unit above a certain volume, it shuts off then turns back on again. Does anyone know why it does this? It is an alpine head unit and i have 2 alpine type r subs and an mtx amp hooked up to it. Thanks-

its using more power than what the alternator can generate. In other words, read up on the Big 3 thread and upgrade your electrical. That is is you have stock electircal.

Also, check your b attery terminals, mine did that and found out my battery cables were old and had a cut in one of them. Or maybe all together a simple battery upgrade is in order.

Just wonderin what size amp you're runnin? And what other power source have you got besides just your car battery?

I have a 1200 Watt mtx thunder amp and my battery is an optima yellow top battery. I i have recently put in a capacitor, but it still just shuts off a lot. Do you think i need another amplifier? Or do you think its a bad head unit?

First off, get rid of the cap.
