car audio in australia?

anyone know how expensive car audio equipment is in australia..i just got word my family is relocating over there since 95% of our whole family lives there..i spoke to my uncle and he told me things there are expensive and some are cheaper..like a bag of ice here that cost $0.99 cost $4.35 there a bag of chips that cost $0.99 here cost $5.00 there..really over priced..but there homes are cheaper down there..anyways i was wondering if i should buy alot of equipment from here and pack it up and take it with me when we go..lol i wonder if woofersetc and onlinecarstereo ship there

In my experience most things were priced pretty comparably. Fuel is really expensive there (and my wife is thankful on a daily basis that her company car comes with a full personal use petrol card) and cigarettes are really high (if you're not a smoker this will be inconsequential to you) but most other things were about the same after you take into account the currency conversion as an Australian dollar is not worth the same as an American dollar.

As far as car audio goes? Here's some reading that might give you a bit of an idea...

Bear in mind that thread is from last December (when I was last in Australia) but I would imagine the comparison is likely still fairly accurate.
