I was browsing around in an audio shop today, and I've been noticing a trend that has been occurring over the past couple years. Audio manufacturers have really been making their products simpler and cleaner.
Example 1: Kenwood Amps
They have gone from having amps that look like robots..... like so:
... To having a much cleaner, more refined look, like so:
Example 2: RF Punch Subs
Shiny, blingy looking subs before:
More classy and refined after:
Example 3: Kicker CVR
Before: Chromed out cone for maximum BLING!
After: Flat gray cone for a more refined look, like the new L5s and L7s
Example 4: RF Power amps
Previously large and in charge, and dressed to impress:
Now, smaller, sleeker and blend right in:
Personally, I am glad to see manufacturers moving in this direction. I like a well built system that blends in and flows with the car. Sure, it's nice to have a system here and there that stands out and turns heads, but in my opinion, a system that looks simple, but packs an impressive sound in a package that fits into the car is where its at.
