how does a proper bandpass sound

I'm thinking about putting a bandpass box in my next vehicle, since it will probably have no top. I have been told that a 4th order is good in vehicles without trunks. I listen to metal and rap. I have only heard prefab bandpasses, but i was wondering if I build one properly will I stil be able to hear the double kicks. The ones I have heard arent very tight.

If it's designed and built right it will sound like any other sub system. The difference is that response is not dependant on the vehicle and that the tradeoffs in the design as far as bandwidth, low freq extension, efficiency and box size are a little more pronounced.

you could use a loading board over the woofers, that usaully helps, a board spaced about 3-4 inches over top of the woofers
