That, and you gotta think, the internet wasn't around (well, wasn't nearly this big) 10-15 years ago. Now when someone wants to learn about CA(or anything in general anymore really) more, they just go to google, rather than go down to the gas station and pick up a magazine. The recession is being blamed, but imo the real reason is the magazine lost touch with its subscribers. They tried to awe their audience with one fancy install after another, when in reality they are simply showcasing install types/levels that 99% of their readers will never have.
Im a car/truck guy and even the car/truck mags are doing it these days imo. The multi-hundred thousand dollar show car trailer queens get one ten page full spread article after another while the real world builds get a snapshot and one small paragraph in the 'readers rides' section.
I agree, certainly the internet plays a role too. Im sure that's what was meant in the original post's quotes talking about the magazine not evolving with the industry. The exact same mistake so many B&M's out there are making these days. The internet genie is out of the bottle, and there's no putting it back in.That, and you gotta think, the internet wasn't around (well, wasn't nearly this big) 10-15 years ago. Like someone said above, not only the recession is going to cause this, but the growth of the internet and computers in general have caused this. I wouldn't be surprised to see many magazines and such go under in the next few years.
They did do a half-*** review of the mag.If they had really tried to get into some stuff that only they would have access to, they would have done better. When you just talk about the 5 or so name brands, it gets boring.
I kept hoping they would feature an "underground" brand - They never did.
agreedI think they would've done better if they kept readers rides and featured at least one everyday nice install...that wasn't a $100,000+ install something nice and simple that everyday people could relate too...maybe even an old school install where someone is running 50% equipment from 10+ years back would've been cool to keep the older car audio guys intrest up....
