car amp repair man.....

Of course.. The original power series from Rockford....The Power 300 was one of the best sounding amps out there and the 300 watt rating was just insane...that thing right out of the box was putting out on average 165 per channel at 4 ohms-times 4 channels..and the math got blurry.. and if that wasn't enough...drop it down to 2 ohms and it would almost double and you still had the option to bridge it
I know what you mean!

Still faithfully run 2 Punch 150's (3rd gen from 1989, just before the HD models). Definately at least double the 'stated rated power output' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yea..when the HD's came out in my opinion was the beginning of the end of the real Rockford Fosgate amps...
Well..talking about amp repair, it became harder to DIY fix with the HD's because of the lack of the 4 internal protection fuses not being used in favor of surface mount modules. On the other hand, performance was better they stated, but don't know personally because never had.

I think I still have a couple Punch 30's laying around somewhere....
The 'Peanut'..the little amp that could //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I owned one of those when they first came out to power a pair of tweeters. Sadly, Rockford Fosgate had that amp longer than I did because it kept going back for repair, over and over again. I ended up giving it to a friend of mine because I was tired of having it act up once a month.

I think they were makin amps that were just to good and they knew it...Both the power and the punch series amps were virtually indestructable because of those 20 cent fuses(not sayin it never happened) but they were solid as hell! and as long as were on it might as well throw in the pro series subs! I had 2 pro 15's in a 280z on a bridged power 300 with another power 300 running 4 channel mode on 2 pairs of boston pro 5.0's....even at moderate volume levels you couldnt see out of the car in any direction unless u rolled the windows down.To me whatever they said the HD's could do better didnt matter...I was through with rockford at the intro of the HD's....but then again..I had a death grip on my cassette tapes for quite some time too...

I got those punch 30's broken..i fixed them and used them on and off over the years with no problems...but now days they just sit there waiting for the historical society to open up the old amp wing in the museum....

I believe it..I ran 1 15" Pro on my bridged Punch 150

Same here & still have them..mostly all bass, but don't use them in favor of CD's & Sirius Radio. Matter of Fact, still use a Clarion 9772RT Magi-Tune pull out cassette deck with a Sony CD Diskman. Have the option of playing both tapes & CD's. The Clarion 9772RT was rated #1 out of 4 tested in the August 1991 issue of CA&E

I allmost bought a double din alpine cassette cd combo head unit off craigslist today....$40.00 and it looked brand new.I had to lock myself in the shop and throw my keys out the window to stop myself long enough to think it through....I might still get it and use it on my bench....oh shit..its lookin like Im gonna hafta throw the keys out again....

Go Ahead..Give yourself a Xmas gift //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Then again you might be a impulsive buyer & I don't want to contribute the wrong influence //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif

I'd be really interested in BOSS AUDIO form the american series if anyone has any of them layin around...but I havent seen any in years....

I would like to say sorry..I was thinkin BOSS american series in my original post and I for some reason called it pyramid..it was a long time ago when I had those boss amps....they were so so nice and the regular BOSS audio stuff from asia was pure junk...

I am a major ZED AUDIO fan and I dont think they EVER made ANY pyramid amps....The BOSS american series was a ZED made amp...
