i have a 2004 ranger i am trying to install an alarm in. the alarm is a viper 5000

here is the deal. i can not get the power locks to work. i am at a complete stand still and i need to get this done because my truck is all sorts of torn apart. and i already called into work today.

here is the paper work i have on the alarm

also a couple of pics from the instalation manual

i have the power lock wire hooked to the green black wire of the harness

i have the power unlock wire hooked to the blue black wire, with a diode

i have the driver side door trigger hooked to the blue black wire with a diode

i have the purple door trigger input hooked to both driver and pass side door triggers, diode on each.

the black with white stripe i was going to hook into the wire i already have going to the dome light in the smart junction box

So do you have the other portions of the "module wake up" connected? like the factory disable and what not? (if you have the factory alarm module)

Also, no mention of the door lock INPUT to feed the output.

Locate the car's lock and unlock triggers (both negative trigger I believe) hook up the respective common output wires to each one, then make sure that you fuse and ground the lock and unlock input wires. You aren't getting any output from the alarm cause it doesn't know what to send out. The 87A outputs are not necessary if it is negative trigger, but test it first.

i dont have the factory alarm, so i dont have that hooked up.

i was wondering where i hook up the other wires in that harness. the violet, and the violet black are joined at a fuse holder. what would that plug into? just a 12v source? also where would i ground it to? how would i test the 87a's?

but you do have the factory keyless right?

otherwise you have completely different factory lock system.

if you do have keyless then it is a negative trigger factory door lock, so your ouputs (30 common) go to the respective lock and unlocks, however, they will not output anything until you hook up the 87 (input wires) to the correct polarity of input, in this case ground (if you have factory keyless, if not stop everything!!), don't connect them to 12V whatever you do!!

the 87a is not used in negative trigger locks, so just cap them off, but 87 has to be hooked to ground for the common ouputs to send the negative trigger signal.

The alarm just has a spdt relay built into it, so you are connect a relay through the alarm, the 30, 87, and 87a are ports of a relay.

well it could be the fact that your using the 451m, take that out and use the 2 wire harness that is the normal lock unlock and see if that works, if so wire a relay up to do the wake up function. did you test the wires that you are using to see if the voltage changes when you lock and unlock or are you going by a tech sheet only.

actually i am not using the 451m. i did pick one up, but starkfu helped me out over aim so i didnt need it. i got it all working. i just didnt know to ground the input wire. learning ftw
