Can't remove old headunit

cons

I just bought a 1997 Grand AM and it came with an aftermarket headunit, although I would like to put my other head unit in there that I had in my other car.

I got the dash off and unscrewed the screws holding the headunit's plastic mount kit. There were two screws on the left, one on the right. These are all the screws I can find that could be holding the unit in the dash -- except I can't get it to come out.

I've tried to pry it out but it feels like something is keeping it in there, like a screw. Any ideas on where to look?

are there any little holes on the sides of the unit --- you might have to buy a tool to remove it.-- i had to use one shped like a horseshoe to get the unit out of my ford taurus.

The radio is probably backstrapped. If you remove the climate controls below the radio, you should be able to see where the end of the backstrap is attached and unfasten it. If not, you can reach through the climate control opening and reach the back of the head unit; that should give you a better idea what you're dealing with.
