Can't choose subs!

Arrgh! I have roughly $250 to spend + shipping. The more I look, the more options I find! Looking to port two 12" subs attached to my amp. Expect around 250-300 watts RMS per sub and one h*ll of an enclosure. Should I get Infinity Kappa 120.3dvcs, RE RE 12s, or Alpine type Rs? Just looking for personal opinions, all 3 a big step up from the ones I have now.

Thanks. (I post too many of these)

Can't go wrong with the Type R's or the SE 12's. The SEs might take awhile (don't think they are in-stock) but either would work great. I'm sure everybody else is going to tell you this too, but you need to listen to them yourself if you havent already. I bought L7s after reading lots of people on here bash the SQ, but when I listened to them it sounded pretty good, especially with the amout of SPL there was. Anyways, good luck. I'd say TYPE R's personally...

My personal preference has been leaning towards Type Rs. But if the REs can match them, then I'll save $80 on a pair of subs buying the REs. However, I worry I'll overpower them, end up bridging my amp trying something new and just blowing them. My current 15s look like I've plugged them into an outlet if I only attach one to my amp, bridged.

Seeing my amp, one that I don't doubt does what it says, which would last the longest?

Guys, I think it's important to mention that he said RE's NOT SE's, so no they will not take a ton of power, wrong series.

Knowing that, I would reccomend the Shivas out of those choices from what I've heard of all three. The type R's sound really good, very clean. Kappas, same thing, but neither got as loud as I would have liked (although box plays a big role and I haven't heard a ton of setups with both). From what I hear about shivas, however, they can get quite loud and sound great doing it....that's my reccomendation.

As far as the tuning on the box goes though, I guess whatever floats your boat, but personally I would tune lower. I am tuned at 32Hz and love it, but I've heard setups at 35-36 Hz that sound pretty nice...any higher just gets a little bit uglier, although that's all personal and my opinions shouldn't be taken to seriously on that issue.

Type R's of the 3 you said.....if you wanna spend a tid bit more....2 se's.....but i own two type R's and i love them. They knock hella hard and i feed them 400 each sealed. Ported, putting 300 to them, you should wang like a mutha fucka

Well, I say 40 hertz, because I've tried to port a box for my current subs before, and the results were disastrous. I only had about 1/2 the enclosure size they needed. It sounded horrible, and it was tuned to 32 Hz. I want louder, but still some quality. Maybe 40 is too high, but something higher than 32. 36 sound good? This is what homework is for.

So, I have roughly 2 cubes per sub to port them with. I can't find the specs on the Alpines, and I can't calculate what the Adires want. Grr..

Budget is tight, so I'm losing the Res and Infinity's, not enough good heard in their favor.

As far as I'm concerned, I like the Alpines for that hint of cosmetics, and I like Adires for the lack thereof. However, the Adires have a curiously small magnet and simple spade terminals. Alpines look all around sturdier, have bigger magnets, and better terminals.

The odds are in favor of me going with the alpines, unless there is something I'm not seeing yet.
