Long story short;

Team Phat Hertz (Spkrman, Tommyk90, SBlazer, etc) did a few comparisons against "known" SPL subs in which the Type-R hit higher #'s and handled more power (or handled it better).

Wham! The Type-R boner was born.

Actually a lot of people are middleground, they just dont realize it. Most people commenting (like me) have enver messed with it or heard it. Therefore they are middle ground by default. Basicly, the got some awsome results from the type R, posted them up, people took it out of context and spred the rumor about how the type r is louder then this and this and this and....thats how it was started.
