Can someone explain this

Back when I had my TS-W2000SPL on the Viper 1200 when I opened the trunk and stood right infront of the sub it sounded normal and I could feel the bass.W hen my Viper blew and I to use a 250W Cadence amp and I opened the trunk and stood infront of the sub it would just making a strange muffled underwater type sound and I didn't feel any bass but on the inside it sounded OK. The sub didn't look like it was moving right. Even though I don't have that system anymore I was just wondering why that happened. That second amp didn't even have a gain or subsonic filter.

the amp doesn't have a gain.........what the hell? well, if u go from 1200 watts to 250 watts, ya might lose a bit of output, no?

I'm not suprised about the loos of output but on the second amp it sounded like complete crap right infront of the sub. The first time a friend did the install but my amp was acting up so I took it to the shop and they said my amp was blown which I think was a lie and they offered to take my "broken" amp and gave me that cadence. And just today I noticed they had they had the remote turn on wire sticking out of the side door panel and when I pushed it back in my alarm doesn't even work now. I think that shop is full of crooks.
